THE 2019 PROCESS:
We’re so happy that you’re interested in being part of the 2019 Arsenal! Whether it’s as someone coming to a camp just to see what drum corps is about or as someone interested in spending the summer as a member of the Arsenal Family; we’re excited to welcome you and look forward to seeing you at one of our camps. For 2019, Arsenal will be doing rolling auditions at each of our experience camps. This means that anyone that has not already been cut from the audition process may attend a camp and audition for an available spot; just register, pay the camp fee, and show up. Additionally, we’re pleased to be offering FREE video auditions this year, meaning that if you live far away you can submit a video and get comments to help you to improve before you invest in traveling to Albuquerque. Even if you don’t plan on marching this summer, we’d encourage you to attend one of our camps to get the Arsenal Experience and see what drum corps is all about:
Rehearsal Camp (Brass Only)
Rehearsal Camp (Brass Only)
El Paso, TX
Percussion Auditions (Chapin High School)
El Paso, TX
Color Guard Auditions (Pebble Hills High School)
Rehearsal Camp (All Sections)
Our Experience Camps are designed to bring you the full Arsenal experience. At each event you’ll spend the weekend working with other students with meals and overnight housing provided if needed for non-local attendees. Be sure to bring an air mattress, toiletries, and a towel if you will need housing!
HOW TO REGISTER FOR AN EXPERIENCE CAMP:
- Complete the 2019 Questionnaire
- Register for Camp
- Pay the camp fee
- Download your materials from your section page: BRASS | COLOR GUARD | PERCUSSION
The 2019 Camp Fee covers the cost of food, housing, and instruction and can be paid online, through the mail, or at check-in for your experience camp. We’re pleased to offer this year’s Arsenal experience camps for only $75.
Arsenal will be providing shuttles for students attending Albuquerque Experience Camps. Students traveling to Albuquerque that will need to be picked up from the bus terminal or Albuquerque Sunport and transported to camp must provide their travel itinerary when registering for camp.
All section materials are now available via our section pages:
Camp packets are sent out as facilities are confirmed. If you have registered for camp, you will receive the camp packet via email. If you are looking to spend the summer with us, remember that each camp also serves as an audition for the corps. As you prepare for camp, remember that we’re looking for students who not only move and play well, but also are able to adapt quickly to change and maintain a positive attitude throughout. Be sure to follow us on Facebook to stay up to date on camp announcements!
Every section has the option to submit a video audition, which is a series of assignments compiled into a video and posted on Youtube. These videos are then evaluated by Arsenal staff who will provide you with comments and suggestions for improvement before offering you an invitation to attend camp. We highly recommend video auditions to anyone who lives far away from Albuquerque, as these videos will give you a chance to receive comments before you make the financial commitment to travel to New Mexico. Although we generally will not offer contracts via video auditions, we are willing to make exceptions for dedicated individuals for whom monthly travel would constitute a significant financial burden. If you are worried about your ability to travel to camp, please reach out to your caption head.
All Video Auditions requirements are posted to section pages.
REHEARSAL CAMPS & SUMMER REHEARSALS:
If you receive a contract at a camp, you will be required to attend all following rehearsal camps, and if you receive a callback you will be asked to return to the next camp in order to earn a contract. Housing, shuttles to/from the airport/transportation center, and food are all provided, and attendance at all rehearsal camps is mandatory unless you have a previously approved school conflict.
Summer Rehearsals, or “All-Days” will begin the second week of June 24, 2019 in El Paso, TX. REHEARSALS ARE MANDATORY FOR ALL MEMBERS. Our “All-Days” will be held in El Paso for the entire 4 weeks of our season at various high schools with brief trips to “Drums Along the Desert” in Mesa, AZ from June 30-July 2; and our final trip to the “DCI Southwest Championships” in San Antonio, TX from July 19-July 21. This year Arsenal will be providing communal housing and meals for all contracted members at various locations in El Paso, TX. Please stay tuned for announcements regarding the summer schedule.
